Light Rail Transit (LRT) Characteristics

• Can operate on either exclusive right-of-way, streets, or both

• Single or multiple car trains

• Typical capacity can vary from 90 to 300 passengers per train

• Examples include mature systems such as in Philadelphia and Boston, and modern systems such as in Portland, Denver, and, most recently, Hudson-Bergen Line in NJ
