Welcome to the LITP2000 web site. It provides important information about the development of the Long Island Transportation Plan to Manage Congestion.

If this is your first visit to the LITP2000 web site, watch the 15-minute video or read the video script. You may also review the write-up about the Proposed LITP 2000 Plan. If you have any further questions or comments, you may also contact the study team.

Public informational open houses were held throughout Long Island during May and June. If you missed these meetings, you can use this web site as your personal meeting place for LITP2000. This site provides you with an excellent opportunity to be kept informed about LITP2000 and to provide your comments, which are very important to us.

The LITP2000 study, which is being guided by a 40-member Technical Advisory Committee, has identified and evaluated an array of solutions. The Technical Advisory Committee believes that the Proposed LITP2000 Plan can best serve Long Island's transportation needs well into the 21st century. However, the Committee wants to hear from you before finalizing the Plan. Once completed, it will also serve as a portion of the broader regional transportation plan of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC).This web site is part of the LITP2000 public involvement program, and it is being facilitated by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

This web site was launched on September 2nd, 1997, and is updated regularly, so come back often to stay informed!

This site was last updated on Tuesday, August 3, 2004.

There is a great deal of information available on the LITP2000 web site. You can learn About the Study, review Study Documents and sign up for the study mailing list by going to the Get Involved! page.

Please contact the study team with your comments and questions.
